Earlier this summer, I was walking in downtown Chicago, on my way to meeting an old friend for dinner. As I approached the CSO, I saw a mom with two children walking toward me. The baby, snugly tied to her mother’s back in a sky blue Moby wrap, held one of the mother’s riotous brown curls tightly clenched in her little fist. The mother’s right hand held the hand of a preschool-aged girl with wispy blonde hair, and her left hand held a violin case.
A boheme bump is a chic bump! We put together an easy-breezy bohemian look that is versatile and transitions well (both from season-to-season and from maternity to postpartum). Here's the look undressed:
It’s that time of year again! Summer vacation is winding down and the kids will be heading back to school. No more summer camp or staying at home playing video games all day. That also means packing lunches with the hopes that your kids will actually eat it. Don’t tell my mom, but when I was in middle school I used to ...
This is a struggle to write an introduction for Katie Driscoll. Not because there isn’t anything to say, but rather there is so much to say. I pondered what words to use. I sought help by asking those who know her for a few words they would use to describe her. I heard things like, "energizer bunny mother," "talented," "innovator," "teacher" and "compassionate." All true.
Here's an ultra simple look that, just like Mother Nature, is toeing the line between summer and fall. We paired a pumpkin hued V-neck modal tee ($38, also available in Black) with a playful under-the-belly skinny jean ($106). Easy, right? Now for the fun part!
When this week's MOTW was created, the universe smiled because, at that very moment, all was right with the world. Tricia wears so many different hats that you would do her the ultimate injustice by attempting to affix only one label to her or put her in only one box. She is a wife, mother, doula, educator and tireless advocate for social justice. She doesn't look for the route that's easiest or most convenient, but the one that's right. It is not in her nature to sit idly by and wait for change to come. She is the change.
Ready or not, the winds are changing (at least here in Chi-Town). Here's a summer-fall collab idea for work or play that will help you transition.
What to say about the woman who is so great with words? (This might just be my most challenging introduction yet.) I met this amazing Mom of the Week, Melanie aka "Mel" aka "Coffee," long before either of us had contemplated motherhood. It was our Freshman year in college. We became fast friends and were thick as thieves (sorry, that's where the tales end, because she undoubtedly has just as many embarrassing stories about me as I about her).
